Understanding Procrastination Through Anxiety and Avoidance

Virtual – Thursday, October 29 @ 12-1pm ET

Procrastination is often misunderstood as laziness or lack of motivation. In reality, avoidance is frequently driven by anxiety, fear of failure, perfectionism, or emotional overwhelm.

This session reframes procrastination through a psychological lens, helping participants understand why avoidance shows up and how compassionate, evidence-informed strategies can support meaningful change.

Why This Training Matters

Procrastination can quietly interfere with work, learning, relationships, and mental well-being. When avoidance is framed as a personal flaw, people often respond with self-criticism or pressure—approaches that tend to deepen anxiety and reinforce the cycle.

Understanding procrastination as an emotional and behavioral response opens the door to more effective interventions. This training helps participants recognize the role of anxiety and avoidance, offering a more humane and practical framework for supporting change in themselves and others.
